Can You Build a Shark?

"Do you think you can build a shark?" A customer was looking for a special housewarming gift for close friends that were very much into aquatic decor. Having never attempted such a build, the interest was peaked! The first step was to research the most realistic dimensions and structure of a great white shark. After many drafts with pencil and paper, a design was ready. A rough form was made from a block of birchwood to get the general size and shape. The intricate hand carving began. Many hours went into perfecting everything from the body shape to the teeth. The project was then whitewashed and sealed with multiple coats of polyurethane. The final piece measured approximately 4ft by 18 inches and holds a place of honor in the "aquatic room."
